Frequently Asked Questions

What is therapy, exactly?

Therapy is a collaborative process between a client and a licensed mental health professional (holding a master’s degree or higher) that often centers on understanding and healing from past experiences, developing healthier coping mechanisms for stress and challenges, and acquiring skills to manage mental health conditions effectively. Additionally, therapy can emphasize improving communication, enhancing personal and professional performance, and setting and achieving meaningful goals for overall growth and well-being.

How long does each session last?

Standard therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. Sometimes sessions can be shorter or longer depending on each client’s needs.

How frequently do I need sessions?

Therapy sessions are usually held on a weekly basis; however, each person is unique and may require more or less frequent sessions.

How long will I need sessions?

The duration of treatment is tailored to each individual’s unique needs, making it difficult to determine the exact length of sessions or overall engagement in advance.

Will I start to feel better immediately after starting therapy?

Everyone’s experience in therapy is different, so while some people feel a sense of relief or hope after just a few sessions, others may take longer to notice significant changes. Therapy is a process that often involves uncovering and working through deeper emotions and patterns, which can take time. It is important to be patient with yourself and trust the process. Our goal is to help you feel better over time by building the tools and understanding you need for lasting change.
